Sailing The Mediterranean
Sailors can charter yachts or sailboats or use their own to sail in the sparkling blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Whether along the coast of Spain or the island of Majorca, sailors can find beautiful ports of call. Some sailors believe that France offers the most interesting port cities like Saint Tropez, Cannes, Antibes, and Nice while others like to sail to the islands of Malta, Corsica, and Cyprus.
Italy with Sicily as well as its long coastline that includes port cities on the Mediterranean and Adriatic Seas is a sailor’s paradise with beautiful coastal cities where sailors can enjoy the food and wine.
Croatia and Montenegro, although they have ancient and historic port cities, are new on many sailors’ itineraries and provide picturesque bays and harbors.
Greece, because of its many islands and quaint coastal villages, is popular with Mediterranean sailors. Some sailors prefer summering at one port of call while others like to follow the watery pathways of the ancient sailors as they explored and traded along the Mediterranean shores.
Many Mediterranean sailors also enjoy scuba diving and snorkeling the near the coasts and often find a Roman coin and other artifact as reminders of the past.
